The Brief

In May 2023, Verizon launched myPlan — a first-of-its-kind customisable plan builder letting customers choose exactly what they wanted and pay only for what they needed. It was a significant shift in how Verizon approached consumer pricing, and the website needed to communicate that flexibility clearly and compellingly.

The brief was to create motion mockups for the responsive hero and plan listing page — animations that would bring the new product page to life and demonstrate the interactive experience to executives before web development began. Two design directions were needed to give stakeholders a real choice.

This was exec-facing work — motion mockups built not just to look good, but to communicate a product vision clearly enough that leadership could make a confident decision about what shipped.

The Process

01
Brief & Direction Setting
Worked with the Creative Director to establish two distinct motion directions — each exploring a different way to communicate myPlan's flexibility to the consumer.
02
Motion Mockup Production
Built full responsive motion mockups for both directions in After Effects — hero animations, sticky bars, and plan listing page interactions at desktop resolution.
03
Exec Presentation & Handoff
Both directions were presented to Verizon executives. The selected direction was refined and handed off to web development ahead of the May 2023 launch.

Two Directions

The Creative Director wanted to explore two fundamentally different approaches to presenting the myPlan experience. Both stayed within Verizon's strict brand system — bold black hero, white body, red accent — but took different stances on how to guide a user through building their plan.

Direction A
Step-by-Step
A numbered, sequential layout guiding users through plan selection one step at a time. Structured and reassuring for a decision-heavy interaction — "1. Choose your plan. 2. Choose your perks."
Direction B
Play Direction B
Direction B
Card Carousel
A more visual, browsable approach — plans and perks as interactive cards in a horizontal carousel. Emphasises breadth of choice and lets users scan before committing. "Build it like you want."
